Observatori 2.0: the new blog of the OCC

The Web has a new forum for discussion on issues related to communication of science, technology, health and environment, and to analyze the impact of these issues in society. This is the next step in the process of implementing the Observatori 2.0 project undertaken by the OCC with the help of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) in its call of 2009.

The blog Observatori 2.0 collects news in three languages (Catalan, Catalan and English) related to the social perception of science, health and environment, communication techniques, new formats and media, and training in all these fields, as well as notes on the latest findings of the research groups at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, which are also posted on the website of the Information Service and Scientific News (SINC).

The blog of the OCC aims to become a forum to share and discuss all matters relating to science, new technologies, health, environment, communication, journalism, journalistic ethics, science policy ... It emphazises the participation of their supporters through comments and contributions to the creation of new entries. The objective of the blog is, therefore, encourage critical thinking on issues related to science and communication, to keep users abreast of the latest developments and, above all, to pursue their involvement.

FECYT

The Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation of the OCC (UCCIOCC) was equipped with assistance from the Science and Culture Program of Innovation 2009 given by the FECYT. The aid has served to finance the OCC project Observatori 2.0, which aims to consolidate the UCCIOCC and convert this into a true multimedia communication tool on science and innovation, popularization of science and journalism.

To achieve this objective, the UCCIOCC is developing a range of resources to fully adapt to the environment of Web 2.0. The corpus of the Observatori 2.0 consists in this website and the new blog, which are linked to various social channels that allow sharing, efficiently, knowledge through the rapid dissemination of innovations and contributions of its users.
