The SAM Report, Food Safety in the Media, is the result of the annual monitoring and analysis of press coverage concerning food safety issues in Catalonia. This studies, based on information published in the largest circulation newspapers in Catalonia, aim to dig deeper into what information has reached the population in relation to food security: the main sources of information for the press, care centers, focus, etc.

The report includes a methodological introduction, an overview of the results, highlighting key topics in the media (Food and Agriculture Sector, Gastronomy, Fish and Fisheries Organic food Balanced diet).
Furthermore it goes deeper into the analysis of three cases: the E. coli Crisis in Germany, the OCU Report on the Quality of Milk and Contamination and Food (Contaminated feed with dioxins in Germany, Food and water contaminated by radiation in Fukushima and Blue fish and mercury).

The report includes a methodological introduction, an overview of the results, highlighting key topics in the media (Food and Agriculture Sector, Gastronomy, Fish and Fisheries Organic food Balanced diet) furthermore it goes deeper into the analysis of three cases: the milk vending machines new activity, the regulation of edible flowers and the sustainability of the Bluefin Tuna. Finally, with a summary of the SAM 2010 report the document highlights that the coverage of issues related to food security in the Catalan press is quantitatively important.

The report includes a methodological introduction, an overview of the results, and then goes deeper into the analysis of three cases: how media renamed swine flu by influenza A; the scientific rigor of the sources of information available in food; and animal health. This edition also includes the analysis of the coverage given by the television in one of the cases through the collaboration of Consell de l'Audiovisual de Catalunya.

The report includes an overview of the results and then deepens the analysis of four cases which had considerable impact in 2008: oil contaminated with hydrocarbon, milk with melamine, the transport strike, and bio-food versus biotech-food.

This document constitutes a preliminary study that was published in August 2008. The report examines the press coverage about food safety and food security issues during 2007.
The report represents a pilot test performed to establish a methodology and to first interpret these kind of results. The report consists of an introduction, a detailed description of results including analysis of cases having the greatest impact in the media and society during 2007, and some final conclusions. The same document includes the Catalan, Spanish and English versions.
